The Irene Rolo Foundation (FIR) is pleased to invite the community to take part in the round table “CUIDA-Me-Te, the Self of those who care”, taking place on 7 November at 10:00 a.m. at the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library in Tavira.
The event is part of the celebrations of the National Day of the Informal Caregiver and takes place within the scope of the CUIDA-Me-Te Project, an initiative promoted by FIR with the support of European Funds, aiming to empower and value those who care for others.
“The CUIDA-Me-Te operation was supported by the Regional Programme, by Portugal 2030 and by the European Union – Bringing European Funds closer to you.”
CUIDA-Me-Te is an innovative project designed to take care of those who care for others, by offering practical tools and spaces for sharing that promote emotional well-being, self-awareness and personal appreciation among formal and informal caregivers.
Developed by the Irene Rolo Foundation, the project covers several areas:
Mental health – psychological support, mental health literacy, stress resilience strategies;
Nature – using the Ria Formosa ecosystem as a therapeutic setting to encourage contact with nature, eco-therapy and environmental well-being;
Art – art-based therapies, personal development, spaces for listening and creative expression;
Sports and physical activity – encouraging regular movement and the integration of body, mind and spirit.
Over the past few months, various activities have been held, including yoga sessions, macramé workshops, themed walks such as the Octopus Route, and visits to the salt pans, marshlands, dunes and the Camera Obscura, among others. These activities have fostered moments of sharing, relaxation and social connection, reinforcing the importance of self-care while caring for others.
The 7 November round table aims to be a moment of sharing, reflection and recognition of the essential role played by caregivers in society.
The panel will include formal and informal caregivers participating in the CUIDA-Me-Te project, who will share their first-hand experiences, as well as contributions from the Director of the Social Intervention Unit of the Faro District Centre and the Vice-President of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR), who will offer institutional perspectives on current policies and social responses.
Through testimonies, dialogue and collective reflection, the event seeks to give visibility to the challenges, needs and achievements of caregivers, recognising their vital role as pillars of well-being and social cohesion.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required via the following form:
